The 2005 Winter Educators' Conference took place in San Antonio from February 11 to February 14th. Early in the conference, the weather was perfect for staying inside; wet and cool. Later on, the February Texas sun was a little more capable of competing with some sessions.
The Friday evening Welcome Reception was well-attended, sun or no. There was also a variety of receptions throughout the conference organized by individual SIGs, including breakfast meetings and late-afternoon sessions.
The Saturday Award's luncheon saw Kent Monroe receive the McGraw-Hill/Irwin Distinguished Marketing Educator Award.
There was a special session organized by the Journal of Marketing and the Teradata Center for Customer Relationship Management at Duke University, and a session on "Marketing Dashboards" sponsored by the Journal of Marketing Research. The AMA Academic Council sponsored two sessions, one on Thought Leadership and one on Ethics.
An afternoon session was interrupted by a fire alarm that saw the conference gather for an ad hoc plenary session. While many of the presentations were warmly received, it turned out to be a false alarm.
News that the mysterious "Beer SIG" would be hosting an early morning breakfast swirled around the conference without apparent confirmation.
A few more photos are available.
